We will be open during the Morning and afternoon till 6pm,  for anyone

who needs to use indoor bathroom change table for infants and of cours a cold cup of water if needed. 

We also have very comfortable chairs to sit and relax for a bit or just come to socialize.

There will be some crafts for kids as well.

We attended the farmers market. The morning began hot and humid and midway through the morning, we experienced a rather violent thunder storm.  There is a provision that allows the organizer to close the market if there is lightining and thunder.  That order wasn't given and we continued later the rain abated.  It was if anything hotter and more humid afterwards.  We took 392 pounds in our first trip to the food bank.  On the second we took an additional 87 pounds of produce for a total of 479 pounds.  We spoke to over 50 people of whome 8 were venders, 9 were donors, and 33 were visitors.  Thanks to John, Lowell, Ann and Georgia for their assistance.  Jeannie, Phil and Mary and their two grandchildren also visited us.  We continued obtaining names and contact coordinates as well as assembled an update on our work at the market.

Please visit our booth at the Port Colborne Farmer's Market, (across from city hall), held every Friday morning, (weather permitting), during the summer season.

We will be available to answer any questions you might have about the Gathering Place or simply to say hello and chat about the weather.

As you enjoy the Farmer's Market and support our local vendors, please consider making a small donation of your purchases and we will deliver them all to the Port Cares food bank.

In 2025, over 200,000 lbs of food were donated to Port Cares. More than 10% of that, 21,000 lbs of fruits and vegetables, were a result of your generous contributions to the Gathering Place.

On July 10, we attended the farmer’s market.  The morning was pleasant, overcast and with a gentle breeze.  We collected 591 pounds of produce which was delivered in three trips to the Port Cares food bank.  We spoke to 48 people of which 6 were venders, 13 were donors and 29 were visitors (one from as far away as Louisiana.  Thanks to Jeannie, Georgia, Lowell, Ann and John for their help!  Just about all the produce vendors are engaged in providing produce for the food bank. On July 17, we attended the farmer’s market: it was a pleasant day throughout except for the wildfire smoke.  It appeared to lessen in the early morning but became denser as we approached noon.  Attendance mirrored that trend.  In two trips to the food bank we took 510 pounds of fresh produce in total.  We spoke to 46 people in total and received donations from 16 visitors.  This was the first week fresh corn was available and some growers brought peaches.  Thanks to Ann and John and Lisa for both helping and visiting the booth.  Just about all the growers are involved in making contributions to the food bank.  I continue to gather names and contact coordinates from those who support our efforts.  This week, I will prepare an update on our food bank contributions to date.

On a beautiful sunny July 24, we attended the farmer's market.  There were more venders including the Marr Brothers, two young brothers who produce excellent corn.  There were also a great many shoppers.  We spoke to over 58 people including 9 venders, 16 donors and 33 visitors.  In two separate trips we took 694 pounds of produce to the food bank.  Thanks to Ann. John and Lisa, Lowell, Jane and Phil for helping out at critical points.  We also had visits from Mary, Jeannie, Eva and Martin.  I continue to gather names and contact coordinates.  I also handed out updates on our contributions to the half year mark.  15 copies of this update were taken.
