“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”
Pope John Paul II
I don’t know about you but I think I like Easter best of all the High Days & Holidays. This is going to be a quick Bits & Bites as there are a few pieces of news and reminders but I have to get back to editing our Good Friday video.
Which kind of brings us to the first order of business …
There will be an “in person” Maundy Thursday Service at The Gathering Place tomorrow night at 7.00 p.m. I’ve had a sneak preview and I’m thinking it will be a lovely Communion Service. Sorry – but there won’t be a video version this time.
There WILL be a Good Friday video service but NO “in person” service so … it sort of evens out in a way. I’m just finishing off the Good Friday one – you’ll see a few familiar faces!
Then, on Sunday, our Easter Service will be in person at The G.P. with a video to follow by mid-week. Oh – and it looks like we’ll be having a quick coffee afterwards thanks to Faythe and her team.
Speaking of coffee and teams, there’s a sign-up sheet for Coffee Hour at The G.P. If you can help out some Sunday, we’d appreciate it.
Things aren’t slowing down following Easter either.
Remember that, on the 19th, Larry Fisher has us lined up for an Investments Webinar with the Ontario Securities Commission. I’m signed up as I am a proper dummy with this stuff. If you want to join in, get in touch and Larry will get you signed up too.
Then Earth Day is on the 22nd. We had hoped to have a special event at The G.P. but, even though it’s Earth Day, we still aren’t exactly on terra firma, Covid-wise. We’ll postpone – not cancel – as it was shaping up to be both informative and fun!
This THURSDAY is the first day for the return of the Farmers’ Market. Yes – Thursday, as the next day is Good Friday. We’ve signed up to do a number of FRIDAYS, beginning on the 22nd. We’ve got info to hand out and we’ll be collecting for the Food Bank again. Can you help? Can you do a couple of hours here and there? All contributions gratefully received. Let me know and I’ll start a list!
For our culinary cohort, we’re up for “Food with Friends” (formerly “Out of the Cold”) at the Guild Hall again on May 31st. The take-out set-up continues for the time being; eat-in might return in September. Watch this space. And let us know if you’ll join the Kitchen Krew. While we’re on the topic, we’re told that The Green Apple Coffee Shop has offered to provide the dessert for the 31st so, if you’re in town, do pop in and buy a cuppa jo to thank them.
And that’s about it. Hmmm. I guess this wasn’t as quick a Bits & Bites as I thought it would be. Keep safe, keep well, & God bless!
