Good words cool more than cold water.
John Ray
Well, I can’t promise you good words but hopefully they’ll be informative – and I have a cup cool water here too as we have the water cooler plugged in now at The Gathering Place (The GP). Keep that in mind if the warm weather carries on to Sunday.
First off, Rev. Adam’s been in touch. His flight was uneventful and he’s full of stories of people he sat beside at various points – his ‘good words’. He and his nephew are busily leading each other astray in a world of swimming pools and ice cream but it’s close to 100°F so they’re more a necessity than a treat. I sent him a video clip of last Sunday’s “In the Garden” duet which pleased him immensely.
So, back closer to home …
Thanks so much to (Brother) Larry Fisher for last Sunday’s service; an excellent worship experience! Rev. Larry (Beverly) takes the reins now until Rev. Adam’s return. Much appreciated!
The GP won’t have any ‘office hours’ next week as Linda, Sheila, and I are off to the Haliburton harp week but not everything is on hold. The Bible Study groups continue over the summer with the Wednesday group meeting at The GP at 9.30 a.m.; they’re coming to grips with Isaiah 49. The Ladies Bible Study are meeting at Portal Village now, Thursdays at 10.00 a.m., and they’re considering James 3.
The other IMPORTANT thing coming up is our Cooling Centre during Canal Days. We were a bit of a Hit with holiday-makers last year – an oasis of cool and calm (plus washrooms!) on a busy weekend. BUT … we need people to sit in and keep The GP open from 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., Friday to Monday. If you are reading this, I am gazing into your lovely eyes and making a sad-puppy-face, pleading with you to help. How can you resist a puppy face? If you can help, leave a message on either 905 834 4288 or 905 932 1897. (And we are quite happy to accept help from our non-GP readers as well!)
Brief update on Marsha (Smith) Pilgrim who has been in our thoughts and prayers: sister Georgia reports that she’s home, alert, up walking and talking! All good!
And all is good with us here so be well, volunteer for Canal Days, and do come on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. to join us in worship!
Be still and cool in thine own mind and spirit.
